There are so many great solo banjo recordings in the archives! Let’s dig in to the rich vocabulary of greats like Clyde Davenport, John Hannah, and more. In each session we’ll walk through a tune with tablature and discuss the unique shapes and textures banjo melodies can have when they’re free from the responsibility of accompanying the fiddle or voice.

Workshops will take place online on Wednesdays 10/8, 10/15, 10/22 and 10/29 from 5:30-6:45pm Pacific via Discord (it’s not that different from Zoom, I promise, and it’s better for keeping track of workshop materials). After signing up, registrants will get a downloadable .html file (openable in your internet browser) with a link to instructions. The download link expires 24 hours after purchase so I recommend downloading it right away. Workshops will be recorded and posted in the Discord server.

Everyone is welcome to attend this workshop; the material will be intermediate/advanced. Participants will have an easier time keeping up if they are comfortable playing hammer-ons, pull-offs, drop-thumbs, and slides.
