There are thousands of old time tunes! Jams work because enough people present can lead a handful of tunes, and everyone else has the skills to follow. Old time is not just a repertoire, it’s a language. So let’s get fluent! Nothing can replace regular jamming, but these four workshops will give you the tools to progress faster in social music settings: muscle memory, tune anatomy analysis, functional harmony, and GENERATIVE BLUFFING.

Workshops will take place online on Wednesdays 4/8, 4/15, 4/22 and 4/29 from 5:30-6:45pm Pacific via Discord (it’s not that different from Zoom, I promise, and it’s better for keeping track of workshop materials). After signing up, registrants will get a downloadable .html file (openable in your internet browser) with a link to instructions. The download link expires 24 hours after purchase so I recommend downloading it right away. Workshops will be recorded and posted in the Discord server.

Everyone is welcome to attend this workshop; the material will be geared towards banjoists who play in the clawhammer style, but the classes will be relevant to other styles of banjo playing and other instruments as well. Clawhammer participants will have an easier time keeping up if they are comfortable playing hammer-ons, pull-offs, drop-thumbs, and slides.
